The ITU is based within J Centre in the Inverclyde Royal Hospital and is a three bed unit including 1 isolation room. It is used for critical patients that require to be intubated and put on ventilators for a variety of reasons such as recovery from surgery at the Hospital to sudden accidents that result in patients being unable to breathe for themselves.

The staff in this unit provide a vital service to the people Inverclyde. This closure diminishes clinical care provided at IRH and it could lead to further reduction of services that the hospital provides. 

We must defend our hospital from this closure and by signing this petition we are calling on the Health Board to overturn this decision and immediately reinstate the ITU at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
