I started this petition
Asking Great wolf lodge resorts to make their main attraction the waterpark at the resorts wheelchair accessible. It is part of my New Year’s resolution.
Great Wolf Resorts is a chain of indoor water parks Throughout Canada and the United States of America. The company owns and operates its family resorts under the Great Wolf Lodge brand. In addition to a water park, each resort features specialty restaurants, arcades, spas, fitness rooms, and children’s activity areas including Yoga and bowling.
The resorts claim to be a family oriented water park where the “Family fun never ends“
It has always frustrated me that Great wolf lodge has a waterpark that is not accessible. I Remember going there several times as a child with my family and feeling left out it was a constant reminder of the things I could not do and things I find difficult.
All areas of their resorts are handicapped accessible except for their water park their main advertised attraction I find this not only horrible but it is also extremely discriminatory to those with physical disabilities.
I went to great Wolf Lodge for a Grade 8 graduation trip several years ago. if the Waterpark had been accessible I would have been able to participate with my class more independently, instead I had to rely on classmates to carry me up three flights of stairs to enjoy the water slides that are featured at the waterpark.
This was not only humiliating but it was also a reminder that this world is not designed for those “who are differently abled“ “we live in an able-bodied world.
I want to make sure that no man, woman, or child ever experience the feeling that I did going to great Wolf Lodge.
Businesses will try to convince the public, the government, and anybody who listen that they simply can’t afford making their Business accessible to those who are Differently abled is not worth it because it’s too expensive and it will affect their bottom line too much. I am sure great Wolf Lodge resort will make the same argument. Nothing could be further from the truth
One in 7 Canadians are physically disabled that number is expected to jump to 1 in five Canadians by 2020.
Let me explain it to you like this … Increased profits.
If someone said they could increase your profits you would be sure to listen to their idea, would you not ?
So, here’s one… Make your business more accessible!
In the UK, it is thought that some seven million people of working age have a disability, which adds up to an awful lot of spending power.
This is known as the "purple pound" and is reckoned to be worth around £249bn to the economy!
If you want a slice of that, it is up for grabs!
All you need to do is make sure that the people who want to spend their money can come into your stores or access your services!
Even more profits
Yes there is even more money up for grabs than just that £249bn!
It is estimated that 1 in 20 children in the UK are disabled. That means 1 in 20 families need better access so they can visit your business and use your services.
If the child can’t visit you, neither can the parents or siblings, and we all know it’s the parents who hold the purse strings but the children who get them to spend the money.
It is also true that there are not too many wheelchair accessible water parks in Canada or the United States. Giving Great Wolf resorts a huge advantage over the competition, because it will be Tapping into a huge un competitive market.
there is an old saying “build it and they will come let us show great wolf lodge that making their water parks accessible is not only the right thing to do but it is a smart business move and should be done sooner rather than later.
it is 2018 let us show Great wolf lodge that we will no longer tolerate places that are not accessible to people of all abilities. Please sign and share my petition today thank you
