Grant Timothy McNeese Rehabilitation, Not Incarceration

The Issue

Timothy McNeese, a loving grandfather, father, and dedicated friend, is facing incarceration for drug-related offenses. The painful irony of his situation is that over the past two decades,  he was never given the opportunity to go to rehab. and spent more than half of his life behind bars where the vicious cycle of addiction continues unabated.

Timothy, determined to change his life, has recently demonstrated considerable efforts to take control of his destiny. Despite grappling with the devastating blow of a broken back, he has managed to restore his driver's license, secure a residence, and get approved for disability benefits. Now, time that could be spent bonding with his grandchild and rebuilding his life is threatened to be taken away once again, potentially serving as a life sentence given his age and health.

Incidences of drug addiction are prevalent and heartbreakingly common in today's society, where research has shown that, when compared to prison, treatment reduces drug abuse and criminal activity while improving social functioning (source: National Institute on Drug Abuse). Incarceration has consistently failed as a long-term solution. Treatment, not punishment, is the path to recovery and to break the cycle of drug dependency.

Every signature on this petition is a plea for mercy, a call for the reevaluation of a system that too often chooses punishment over compassion. Sign now to demand that the court grant Timothy McNeese a chance for rehabilitation over incarceration. Timothy's case is not simply about one man's struggle, his life serves as a testament to the necessity of reforming our approach to drug offenses. No more should individuals suffering from addiction be wrongfully punished when what they truly need is help and support.
