Grant The United Stand Access to Manchester United Press Conferences

The Issue

As a follower of The United Stand YouTube channel and a passionate supporter of Manchester United since the early 90s, I find it strange that this very popular online media platform is not allowed in the club's press conferences. This channel serves as a vital link between the global fan base and the club, providing insightful commentary, analysis, and discussions that resonate with millions of fans worldwide that.

Admittedly, The United Stand is not for everyone as the main host, Mark Goldbridge can be controversial at times (Which he admits). He is opinionated, but he is also entertaining millions of people with his banter and self-pratishness, like a living Alan Partridge. He has a massive social media following as a result, with millions of subscribers and followers across all social media channels. Goldbridge is Partridge Marmite. Love him or hate him. Many love him. People don't need to watch.

But the exclusion of The United Stand from these press conferences is seen by some as an attempt by mainstream media to stifle competition from new media from online platforms that are over-taking them. It's 2024, we need to get with the times, the club will simply reach many more people around the world, especially young people who use social media almost exclusively.

We urge those responsible to reconsider their stance and allow The United Stand, perhaps Beth Tucker given the press pool is almost exclusively male, access into Manchester United's press conferences. It would be a significant step towards embracing modern forms of media engagement and recognising their importance in connecting with global audiences.

Please sign this petition if you believe in fair access for all types of media at sports events. Your support can make a difference!
