Over the summer C. Milton Wright high school was able to renovate their old football field into a new high quality one. Our large and successful marching band was excited to use this field, as we would practice our halftime show on the football field, which helped raise moral and entertain students and parents during our home football games. However, we have been told that we are not allowed to use the football field, among possible concerns being “damaging the new turf.” This is simply a bogus reason because the sports teams that use the field whenever they like wear corrugated cleats and run and jump all over the field. We simply walk with flat, rounded shoes. The CMW band needs the football field in order to be successful, because there are no other fields on the CMW property which are suitable for marching. They are all either not painted well or are covered in holes which are dangerous when combined with the strict marching formations. Our school has an incredible and expansive music program, which despite a lack of funding has been able to pull through and excel through various fundraisers and campaigns run and operated by parents and students alike. Help  our voices be heard by signing our petition.

MASSIVE UPDATE: Thank you to everybody for your support! The Administration and the music department are in kahoots now and are working to give the band as much field time as possible without interfering with other sports!
