The Issue

Growing up without a father was difficult for me, and it’s a fate I never want my child to experience. A boy needs a father in his life for guidance just as much as he needs his mother. Being a fit parent means wanting to be present in my child’s life and providing love, guidance, and a positive role model. But the hurdles are immense when biases and outdated views come into play, often leaving one parent marginalized.

We all make mistakes as humans, but these should not define our capability as loving, protective, and involved parents. I am committed to my child’s safety and growth and have always ensured they never come to harm. The current legal system often overlooks parents like me—ones who are fit, yet struggling against a biased perception that diminishes their role based on past mistakes, rather than present capacities and efforts.

The legal framework often leans towards preconceived notions, sometimes discounting the valuable role fathers play simply because of their gender. It’s time we ask for a more balanced and fair consideration in custody decisions. A parent should never be discounted purely based on gender, but rather evaluated fairly on their ability to nurture, protect, and contribute positively to a child’s development.

Concrete steps need to be taken to ensure equal parenting rights for fit parents like myself. The system needs to focus on the best interests of the child, which includes having both parents actively involved unless there is clear evidence of harm. It’s time to shine a light on this issue, pushing for change that allows children to benefit fully from the love and guidance of both parents.

Let us stand together to ensure that no child grows up missing the valuable presence of their parents. Join me in calling for equal parenting rights that reflect our capabilities, not our genders. Please sign this petition for a fairer legal system that prioritizes children’s needs over stereotypes. Your support can make a difference in many family lives, allowing parents like me to be the father my child deserves. Sign the petition today and contribute to change that focuses on the welfare of our children.
