Grant Students Off From School For Christian Orthodox Holidays

Grant Students Off From School For Christian Orthodox Holidays
The Issue
Orthodox Christians celebrate various holidays such as Easter and Christmas different times than the Catholic church, which makes it harder to celebrate or attend mass on school days, leading a big portion of students to be absent, which can negatively affect their attendance and chance to receive awards, or get accepted into things such as an honors society.
There are about 198,000 Orthodox Christians in New York itself. A big portion of each school will have a noticable amount of absences. Students should'nt have to be absent from school and face consequences because of their religous beliefs. Orthodox Christians Should have off from school for holidays such as Holy Week, specifically Good Friday which can fall from anywhere between April to May, and Christmas also known as Feast Of Nativity which is always January 7th.
