Grant Railroad Union Members the Right to Strike

Grant Railroad Union Members the Right to Strike
The Issue
I have been a hardworking employee for a Class 1 Railroad for more than two decades, and over these years, the working conditions in our industry have gotten progressively worse. Unfortunately, the last couple of years have seen an alarming exacerbation of the situation. A recently implemented Attendance Policy barely leaves room for a sick day, demanding workers to remain on call for a daunting 125 consecutive days just to compensate for one holiday taken off. The nature of this policy is inhumane and borderline slavery, and yet, we remain helpless.
The problem lies in our Railroad Union's inability to strike. Without the right to manifest our discontent, we've lost our voice and the potential to negotiate fair contracts. It's a pivotal juncture in the history of railroad labor rights and it's imperative we turn things around. The situation goes beyond our personal discomfort - it is a clear violation of labor rights, threatening the integrity of worker's lives, health, and dignity.
Historically, labor strikes have been a pivotal practice in achieving labor rights and improvements in working conditions. Today, we urge for the recognition of our right to strike - a practice that is fair, legal, and even essential to the balance in any labor relationship. We cannot allow ourselves to be silenced by oppressive, unbalanced policies.
We call upon lawmakers to re-evalutate the ban on strikes for railroad unions. Granting us the ability to strike; let the scales be balanced; ensure that nobody should be forced to work under such inhumane conditions. Sign this petition and stand with us in demanding change.
