Although many other high schools allow their students to go off-campus during lunch break, Lake Oswego Senior High School doesn't. The Off-Campus policy, created by the School Board in 2004, is outdated and not necessary. Since the rule was implemented, the school has struggled to enforce it and alternative solutions such as ordering food have been troublesome due to the risks associated with having delivery drivers roaming our campus. On top of this, more restaurants have opened within walking distance to the school in the past few years, meaning that introducing an Off-Campus Lunch option could even support the local economy.

It is time to petition the School Board to change their policies to reflect the wants and needs of the Lake Oswego Senior High School students and the Lake Oswego Community.
