Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Request for Improvement of Last Mile Transport Between Rathcoole and Saggart to Access the Citywest shopping centre/Luas Light Rail System
I am writing to you as a concerned resident of Rathcoole, Dublin, to bring to your attention the significant challenges faced by the community regarding last-mile transport options between Rathcoole (Rathcoole Holy Family Community School) and Saggart (Luas Station), particularly for those seeking to access the Citywest shopping centre and connectivity to Dublin city centre via Luas/Bus.
Currently, there is a lack of efficient and reliable transport options connecting Rathcoole to the Luas station in Saggart. Bus 69 every hour/ W62 from Avoca has a 3 km gap in the transport network and poses a substantial inconvenience for residents and commuters who rely on public transport to travel to Dublin city centre and other destinations. The absence of direct and frequent transport services has led to increased dependence on private vehicles, contributing to traffic congestion, environmental concerns, and reduced accessibility for those without access to a car.
Seems Rathcoole is not considered by renters due to transport issues.
To address this issue, I would like to propose several potential solutions for consideration by the National Transport Authority:
Extend bus 77A to Rathcoole (will create great connectivity between Rathcoole, Citywest and Tallaght, extending to Dublin City Centre)
Enhanced Shuttle Bus Services: Introducing a dedicated shuttle bus service that operates frequently between Rathcoole and the Saggart Luas station, particularly during peak hours, would greatly facilitate easier and more efficient access to the Luas. Synchronising the shuttle schedule with the Luas timetable would help minimise waiting times for commuters.
Extending Luas to Rathcoole
The implementation of these solutions would significantly improve connectivity between Rathcoole and Saggart, enhancing the overall public transport network and contributing to a more sustainable and commuter-friendly environment.
I respectfully request the NTA to consider these proposals and initiate a feasibility study to explore the potential benefits and impacts of these improvements. As a resident of Rathcoole, I am confident that such enhancements would greatly benefit our community and support the wider goals of sustainable transport in Dublin.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter. I look forward to your positive response and am willing to participate in any community consultations or discussions that may arise from this request.
Yours sincerely,
