Grant Homeschooling Students Access to Public School Sports Programs

The Issue

As a homeschooled student, I experience firsthand the limited access to competitive sports that we have. The only choice I have is to join homeschool sports programs, which drastically limit our scope for growth and exposure. Homeschooling students represent a significant portion of the student population - about 3.3% in the United States according to National Home Education Research Institute. Yet, we are largely excluded from joining public school sporting programs.

Just as public school students, we too possess talents and abilities that should be nurtured. It's crucial that we are given equal opportunities to hone our skills, compete, and achieve our maximum potential. Students should not miss out on the chance to participate and compete in sports solely because they chose a different method of education.

We urge the school authorities and the policymakers to review the existing policy and grant access to homeschool students in public school sports programs. We are not asking for preferential treatment, only a fair chance to compete and demonstrate our skills.

Let’s level the playing field for all students, irrespective of their method of education. Please sign this petition to support homeschool students' access to public school sports programs.
