Grant Funds to Redevelop Tolka Park

The Issue

Grant funds to Redevelop Tolka Park.

Tolka Park is an enormous part of the history of Dublin City, Ireland and indeed Drumcondra, Shelbourne FC amongst other clubs also. It is now the home of Shelbourne FC, the champions of Ireland, after the men's senior team captured the League of Ireland title in 2024 under Damien Duff, Joey O'Brien, their staff and all the amazing volunteers within the club. It's also home to our hugely successful ladies team and underage sides.

After a huge campaign to save Tolka Park from redeveloping the site into housing developments, the club and its fans secured a 250 year lease on Tolka Park as our home. Sadly the ground itself is in huge disrepair and is in need of huge redevelopment which would run into millions of euro.

The Irish government needs to grant much needed funds to transform Tolka Park into a sporting facility for all. A sporting facility that can hold major events, European football at any stage in the competition and a community based stadium for all to enjoy and be proud of.

Football/Soccer is hugely underfunded in our country, especially at league of Ireland level, most stadiums such as Tolka Park are left to rot without any care from departments of the Irish Government and their councils, only for our wonderful volunteers who have done their best to have it as safe as possible and looking as best as possible, we'd be visiting a much more dangerous and dilapidated Tolka Park for home & away fans.

Horse racing, greyhound racing, the GAA amongst others receive huge funding from our government running into millions upon millions, where is the funding for Tolka Park?

While Tallaght Stadium has received major funding for a fantastic stadium and Dalymount Park set to be redeveloped soon, it's time Tolka Park gets the care and funds it deserves to transform it into a major football stadium in Ireland. A stadium fitting of the champions of Ireland.

I hope you can sign this petition for change and hopefully it'll help secure the much needed funding that Tolka Park and the community in Dublin deserves.

Thank you!
