Safa Sefidgari, an Iran native and Ph.D. candidate at Rutgers University, was alone when she gave birth prematurely in the United States.

She was alone when her newborn baby died.

And because of the current travel ban, her husband — Ehsan Entezari — has been denied entry to the U.S. and cannot be by her side, even in the aftermath of this devastating loss.

This is not a hypothetical situation. This is happening right now.

Ehsan has been repeatedly denied a visa, leaving his wife to endure childbirth, grief, and trauma without her partner. He cannot attend his own child’s funeral.

No policy should force a family to go through this alone.

We call on President Donald Trump and the U.S. Department of State to grant immediate humanitarian entry for Ehsan Entezari so he can be with his wife during this time of unimaginable loss.
