The Issue
- Our story begins with a young man 15, now aged 26, he has served 85% of his sentence, using this time to turn his life around. He achieved significant milestones in prison, including completing his high school diploma, participating in college classes, and completing a drug rehabilitation program. Equipped with the necessary life skills and a robust support system, he is well-prepared to rejoin society as an informed citizen and a law-abiding individual. Moreover, he has gained valuable work training experience, further strengthening his ability to find a job upon release, contributing positively to society.
He has left his past affiliation with gangs behind and is committed to leading an honest life. But this is not just about him. His family, especially his aging grandparents who are battling health issues, eagerly await his homecoming. Their only wish is to share those precious moments with their grandson, to experience his love and regard for them firsthand, a sentiment that they might not have the opportunity to witness if his release is prolonged.
The issue of wrongful convictions is prevalent in our society. The Innocence Project, an organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals, estimates that between 2.3% and 5% of all prisoners in the U.S. are innocent (Innocence Project, 2021). But this is more than just a statistic; it's a personal plight, lived by real individuals and their families.
We seek your support to get this young man, a reformed citizen, the justice he deserves by facilitating his early release. Let's give him the chance to lead a fulfilling life, mend his past mistakes, and comfort his grieving family. Please sign this petition to show your support for His early release.

Terry MendiettaPetition StarterHi I am Terry Mendietta 54 years old . The only thing I hold on to is faith in God that my son gets an opportunity to come home. He is my youngest and had to grow up fast. What a hard lesson he had to learn why we will never know.
