The Discobolus Monument at Sydney Olympic Park is of significant value to all Sydneysiders, and not just those of Greek heritage because it is a tribute to the Sydney Olympics of which, it is safe to say, the entire Sydney community is immensely proud. Future residents of Sydney Olympic Park would experience great amenity from the Discobolus and its surrounding landscape, because it provides the developed area with a sense of history and an Olympic Legacy. 

The 7m wide steel disk with glass centre, forms the centrepiece of the work and its setting at an oblique angle on its pediment is a technical achievement in itself. The work in its entirety constitutes a landmark monument which depicts a high degree of creative, aesthetic and technical achievement within the Olympic Park site, within NSW, and in Australia. 

It should be protected for all future generations.
