Grant Control over Personal Device Wallpapers for students
Grant Control over Personal Device Wallpapers for students
The Issue
I, like many in Singapore, use personal electronic devices that were paid for by our parents. It's not just a gadget for us, but a personal item where we seek to express our identity, and having control over the basic settings like wallpaper is a significant part of that. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to change our device wallpaper.
In a digitally-driven age where personalisation and self-expression are gaining more acceptance, it is only fair that consumers have the ability to change their personal device wallpaper. The right to control one's personal space extends to the digital realm, particularly for the youth of today, many of whom spend a significant portion of their time on virtual platforms.
According to the Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority, an estimated 91% of Singaporeans aged between 13-34 years are smartphone users (2018). This translates into millions of youth or young adults who should have the power to manifest their personality and creativity through their personal devices.
This lack of basic control runs against the grain of today's digital world which thrives on personalisation. It not only limits individual freedom but also restricts creative expression.
The time has come to provide consumers with the choice of customizing their personal device as per their desire. Sign this petition to stand up for the right to personalize our devices fully, to reflect our identities.
