Grant Clemency to Rollie Lamar — A Father, Mentor & Nonviolent Marijuana Offender
The Issue
Grant Clemency to Rollie Lamar — Give a Father a Second Chance
My name is Kiyla Lamar, and I am asking for your support for my husband, Rollie Deshawn Lamar, who is currently serving a 220-month federal sentence.
Rollie was convicted after a jury trial of a marijuana conspiracy, marijuana distribution, money-laundering conspiracy, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.
His sentence includes an additional mandatory 60 consecutive months for the firearm conviction.
We are not asking anyone to ignore Rollie's convictions or pretend that accountability does not matter. We are asking whether serving the entirety of an 18-year federal sentence is necessary when there is an opportunity for accountability, rehabilitation, mercy, and a productive second chance.
Importantly, Rollie's firearm conviction did not involve him shooting, brandishing, injuring, or threatening another person during a drug transaction.
President Trump Is Granting Clemency in Similar Federal Drug Cases
Recent decisions by President Donald Trump have given our family renewed hope.
In September 2026, President Trump granted clemency to individuals serving substantial federal sentences for marijuana offenses.
Kevin Harden received a commutation after being sentenced to 360 months — 30 years — for a federal marijuana conspiracy.
Jerry Haymon received a commutation after being sentenced to 120 months for a federal marijuana conspiracy.
The same round of clemency also included Shemika Alfrida Williams, who was serving 180 months for a federal drug-trafficking conspiracy and a firearm offense connected to the drug crime.
Earlier in 2026, Juan Mercado III received a commutation after receiving a 240-month sentence in a federal marijuana conspiracy involving more than 2,000 kilograms of marijuana.
We understand that none of these cases is identical to Rollie's.
But that is exactly why we are asking for individualized consideration.
These recent grants show that substantial marijuana quantities, lengthy federal sentences, and even firearm-related circumstances do not automatically make someone undeserving of presidential mercy.
Rollie currently has a pending application for presidential commutation, and our family is respectfully asking President Trump to give his case the same opportunity for individualized consideration.
Rollie Has a Real Plan for His Second Chance
We aren't simply asking for Rollie to come home.
He has a plan for what he will do if he is given that opportunity.
Rollie plans to attend a community college to pursue construction and skilled-trade training. He also intends to pursue real-estate education so he can develop legitimate skills that can lead to stable employment and lawful business opportunities.
His goal is to use education, training, hard work, and the support of his family to build a stable future and provide for his children.
His Children Need Their Father
One of Rollie's most important responsibilities if he comes home will be returning to an active role as a father.
He wants to take his children to school and pick them up. He wants to attend practices, extracurricular activities, school functions, birthdays, accomplishments, and all of the ordinary moments that make someone an involved father.
Incarceration has taken years of those moments away.
A second chance would allow Rollie to become a present, dependable and responsible father again.
Turning His Experience Into Something Positive
Rollie also wants to give back to his community.
He plans to volunteer with youth and community programs, particularly programs focused on preventing gun violence.
He wants young people to understand where decisions involving guns, drugs, violence, and illegal activity can lead — incarceration, injury, death, and years of separation from the people they love.
His purpose would never be to glorify his past.
He wants to use what he has experienced to encourage young people to choose education, skilled trades, lawful employment, entrepreneurship, responsible fatherhood, and nonviolence instead.
Rollie also plans to maintain appropriate counseling and spiritual guidance as part of his transition home.
Eventually, he hopes to advocate for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals who are genuinely willing to accept responsibility and change their lives.
He wants to help connect people who are serious about change with education, skilled trades, employment opportunities, counseling, reentry programs, faith-based support, and other community resources that can help them become productive members of society.
Accountability and Mercy Can Exist Together
We are not asking for accountability to disappear.
We are asking for the opportunity for Rollie to demonstrate through his actions what he can do with a second chance.
President Trump has recently shown that he is willing to look individually at people serving substantial federal drug sentences, including marijuana cases and cases involving additional aggravating circumstances.
We respectfully ask him to look at Rollie's case too.
Rollie has a family waiting for him.
He has children who need their father.
He has an educational and employment plan.
He has a plan to give back to his community.
And he has a pending request asking the President for mercy.
Please Help Us Bring Rollie Home
We respectfully ask President Donald J. Trump to commute Rollie Deshawn Lamar's sentence to time served or reduce his sentence to a term that appropriately balances accountability with mercy and the opportunity for a second chance.
Please SIGN this petition and SHARE it.
Send it to your family, friends, churches, community organizations, criminal-justice advocates, and anyone who believes that people who accept responsibility and are committed to change should have an opportunity to prove it.
Every signature helps show that people are standing behind Rollie's request for a second chance.
We are not asking you to say Rollie never made mistakes.
We are asking you to believe that a person's mistakes do not have to define what they do with the rest of their life.
Please help us bring Rollie home.
