Grant Clemency to Michael Jolivet Serving Two Life Sentences

Grant Clemency to Michael Jolivet Serving Two Life Sentences
The Issue
My brother, Michael Jolivet, is a 56-year-old rehabilitative person serving two consecutive life sentences with the possibility of parole in the State of Texas. He has been in prison 38 years and will die there unless Texas Governor Greg Abbott grants him clemency.
My family's life changed forever when he was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in state prison for burglaries and assaults. He was sent to prison at 18. Growing up fatherless, he sought acceptance from negative influences who ultimately shaped his decisions. "If I could turn back time, I'd choose a different path."
My brother has accepted full responsibility for his actions and used that experience to better his life and the lives of others. Today, he is a model prisoner who mentors younger inmates and has become an Imam. He enjoys reading, tutoring, and woodworking. His supporters include faith leaders, community activists, and numerous prison advocacy groups.
My brother's desire upon release is to assist the community with the needs of justice-impacted individuals to help reduce recidivism. Michael attended college and does not have any children. It serves no purpose or benefit to society to have him locked up for two consecutive life sentences. His loving and supportive family and friends would welcome his return.
Please sign this petition and ask Texas Governor Greg Abbott to grant clemency to a brother, nephew, uncle, and friend who wants to use his experience to assist others and give back to his community.
