Grant a Second Parole Hearing for Anthony Clark, 30 Years Incarcerated

The Issue

My father, Anthony Clark, was sentenced to prison before I had a chance to reach adolescence. My siblings and I have felt his absence significantly during birthdays, graduations, and weddings; celebrations where his presence was sorely missed. Now, after 30 years of serving his term, Anthony was denied parole during his first hearing, which was in spite of the robust support system yearning for his return outside the prison walls.

Anthony Clark is much more than a name on a dossier. He is a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. His loss is felt beyond measure by not just his immediate family, but also by the extended family and friends who've been robbed of sharing life's precious moments with him. Tragically, he has had to mourn the passing of relatives, including two of his siblings, while incarcerated. The disflavor of our penal system, meted out without providence for his relentless yearning to renew family ties, haunts us.

The strain of years in prison has taken a toll on Anthony's health. While we don't desire to envisage the worst, the reality that he may not have 30 more years left can't be shrugged off. His journey of reformation and remorse deserves to culminate in the comfort of his loved ones, not in solitary despair. During his time incarcerated Anthony had completed a number of educational programs, victim’s assistance class, anger management and much more.

We are making an appeal to the Parole Board to re-evaluate Anthony Clark's case. His family waits with open arms, ready to support his reintegration into society and aid him in becoming a constructive force in his community once more. Generations of our family have felt the sting of his absence; it's time to amend that.

We ask you, in recognition of his time served, the support available to him, and the exceptional circumstances of his health, to grant Anthony Clark release.  Make your voice heard. Stand for justice that acknowledges remorse and believes in second chances. Please sign this petition. It’s time to bring Anthony home.
