Make Moab Safe from Virus

The Issue

The health and safety of residents in Grand County require the participation of the Sheriffs Office and Moab Police Department in the enforcement of public wearing of masks.  The local law enforcement has not or partially  supported Utah  in protecting the Moab residents from the virus.

The States requirement that masks are worn in businesses by both the employees and customers is essential to protect Moab residents and our tourists from Covid-19.

Both the Sheriff’s Department and the Moab City Police need to support local businesses in their efforts in requiring all customers to wear masks before they enter the premises.  Neither the Sheriff nor the Police Chief have stated their support of enforcing the wearing of masks in Moab.   We can only expect more illness and more deaths from the virus in Moab without their support.

We the undersigned are asking that Sheriff White and the Moab Police Chief   prepare an action plan enforcing the wearing of masks in Moab.  A business owner should be able to refuse admittance to any person not wearing a mask and expect a timely response from either enforcement  department in enforcing the requirement. Residents complaints need to be recorded with a follow up of action taken.  Contacts are Sheriff White. <swhite @grandcountysheriff.org> and Moab Police Chief <bret@moabcity.org>
