We are asking the the Lakeland Police Department to enforce their officers to wear body cams to make them more accountable and transparent to our community. All police departments should do this it’s a matter of integrity and if you’re not willing to have your officers wear body cams then you’re willing to let them do shady things. 

Back in 2018 it was made apparent that our law enforcement needs to have body cams. We witnessed two of our cops beating down a homeless man under a bridge and the only thing that held them accountable was a person recording it who was driving by. The police feel they can do anything so we need something to hold them accountable because as of right now they have lost the trust of the people of lakeland and they need to do the right thing and require officers to wear body cams 

Why do we need body cams on our officers?:

If beating down a homeless man in our own city isn’t enough of a reason then let’s use the Breonna Taylor instance as an example. Those officers weren’t enforced to use body cams and they got away with murder  and if they had body cams they would’ve been held accountable for their actions. But now communities are starting to lose faith in their local law enforcements including our own here in lakeland

We the people are demanding Sheriff Grady Judd and Police Chief Ruben Garcia to enforce body cams on lakeland officers.
