To all graduates, families, friends and community of John Marshall High School located at 3939 Tracy St. LA, CA:

Please listen. This is urgent. There is a small group of people that want to change our high school name and you need to be aware of this. John Marshall High School is our high school. It is dear to us.  JMHS is not just the physical school, but the name itself is rooted in our hearts and a part of our memories and life experiences. The reasons given for changing our high school name do not make any sense. Changing a high school name will not change history. It will not right yesterday's wrongs as judged by today's norms.

This name change would cost upwards of $350,000, and for a ridiculous name change! We could hire many new teachers for music and theater classes with that money, or counselors for depressed and suicidal students.

We appeal to all John Marshall High School graduates, families, friends and community who disagree with this, to speak up now. We feel that a handful of individuals are pulling this off under the nose of thousands of JMHS graduates that are completely unaware. A replacement name has not been chosen.
