Reopen North Carolina

Reopen North Carolina
The Issue
We the residents of North Carolina respectfully petition the Governor, Roy Cooper, to reopen all businesses and other targeted establishments in our state. We believe the discontinuation of your targeted closures is in the best interest of all citizens, as all commerce and gatherings are equally as essential to the life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness of the business owners, their customers, and those who peacefully assemble as they will.
We believe people are capable of making their own decisions as to how they will best provide for their own health and safety as they conduct their daily lives. Contrary to your forced closures, lifting them forces no business owner to reopen and leaves that decision in the hands of those whose right it is. In the same way, no person is forced to do business or assemble with these open establishments and the right to decide remains, where it belongs, with the individual.
We believe, as did our founders, that just government adheres to the restraints and limits placed on it, as written in the US Constitution, and doesn’t violate the rights it by design should protect and defend. We believe that denying the free movement of free people is such a violation and criminalizing the exercise of this right trespasses into tyranny.
