Sign a bill into law to immediately remove abused animals from puppy and kitten mills in Nebraska.

The Issue

Nebraska is third on the Humane Society of the United States’ annual 101 Problem Puppy Mill list.  There were 12 puppy mills in Nebraska that were so bad that the HSUS felt they were a problem.  This is unacceptable and shameful.  With this petition, my hope is that sooner rather than later, Governor Ricketts will take steps to stop the abuse in puppy mills once and for all in the state of Nebraska.  I started this petition because: This is an issue that has been talked about, blogged about, cried about, and fought about. Yet, the laws are not strict enough. There are male and female dogs and their puppies being forced to live in a cage, standing on wires, and abused their entire life, in the great state of Nebraska.  Create a law to save the abused animals as soon as possible.  After reading their reports, it appears, when inspectors find an animal in a breeding facility that needs veterinary care, they write their report and leave the premises.  A year to rescue these animals is too long.  Why would we not take an abused animal from commercial breeders immediately, just as a dog would be immediately taken from a person's home to get medical attention if abuse were found?  It's the same dog, is it not?

Tiffy was purchased from a pet store in Lincoln, NE.

WE PETITION Governor, Pete Ricketts to sign a bill into law to immediately remove abused animals from puppy and kitten mills in Nebraska. Will the Governor and lawmakers of Nebraska work with USDA & State inspectors of puppy and cat mills? If abuse is discovered, will you make it a requirement that inspectors immediately request law enforcement to charge commercial breeders and owners with animal abuse, immediately remove the dogs or cats from the premises with the help of rescue groups from the state and get them the medical attention they are needed?
