"Help, my name is Richard Barge I was Wrongly Convicted 1st Degree Murder; I Got 57 Years.
The Issue
I am doing this for Richard Barge and others that are wrongfully convicted of a crime and are giving unrealistic sentences like fifty-seven years. Richard was convicted of first-degree murder. Through flawed investigations, no weapon(s) were recovered, no forensic or ballistic evidence, no surveillance video or anything linking Richard Barge to the crime; never the less he convicted and recieved fifty-seven years.
The Prosecutor had presented two jailhouse informants who testified in twenty homocide cases telling the same lies, for favorable plea deals. Only resently has an alleged eye witness came forward to explain to me the reason behind his conflicting statements: first, he testified that I" was innocent of the crime; next, "yes he is the one that shot the other guy." The alleged eyewitness essentially indicated that he was threatened by detectives and the victim's family and was coerced into changing his testimony saying, "Richard Barge comitted the crime."
Furthermore, there were witnesses available to testify in my defense that were never called to the witness stand nor did my attorney make any attempt to contact them! As an inmate and laymen I can only feel that my Sixth Admendment rights to a fair trial were violated.
It is indeed my quest to prove my innocence and provide others with confidence and optimism to share their experience. A quest for justice on a smaller scale is a quest for humanity on a global scale.
This is part of Richard's life story as it stands now. Juneteenth, let freedom ring, Governor Phil Murphy please take a closer look at this matter and grant me a pardon.
As a loving grandparent I ask you how can I not care?
