New Jersey has laws on the books that indicate they promote Second Chances to individuals that have made mistakes in the past. (NEW JERSEY OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE ACT A.K.A. BAN THE BOX LAW) Though the State claims to enforce these laws, State agencies do not abide by them which negatively impacts minorities and others who have experienced the criminal justice system. 

This is personal to me as Ive worked hard for the last 18 years to put past mistakes behind me. However in the pursuit of a professional license (Insurance Producer) the New Jersey Dept. Of Banking and Insurance has branded me as a forever felon not fit to progress in life and denied my application for what they even recognized as an isolated incident whichnhas a negative impact on myself and my family.
