COVID-19 has complicated children's lives by not only requiring them to learn from their homes remotely, but their families may also have been experiencing illness and economic disparities. Therefore, to implement state standardized testing in the Spring semester of 2021 is not only harmful but it's not the appropriate time. When children return to school, they need to rebuild community, connect with their peers and teachers and learn via substantive intra- and inter-personal experience, that which they have been deprived of for nearly a year. Additionally if they are still learning remotely, they also need connections with their peers and teachers to engage them in learning. Standardized testing further isolates them. Therefore, I propose this petition to halt all standardized testing in the Spring of 2021 including ACCESS testing for linguistically diverse students who endure double testing each year. 

El COVID-19 ha complicado la vida de los niños no solo al exigirles que aprendan desde sus hogares de forma virtual, sino que sus familias también están experimentando enfermedades y dificultades económicas. Por lo tanto, implementar pruebas estatales estandarizadas en el semestre de primavera de 2021 no solo es perjudicial, sino que no es el momento adecuado. Cuando los niños regresen a la escuela, necesitan reconstruir la comunidad, conectarse con sus compañeros y maestros y aprender a través de una experiencia intra e interpersonal, aquello de lo que se han tenido que privar durante casi un año. Además, si todavía están aprendiendo de forma virtual, también necesitan conexiones con sus compañeros y maestros para involucrarlos en el aprendizaje. Las pruebas estandarizadas los aíslan aún más. Por lo tanto, propongo esta petición para detener todas las pruebas estandarizadas en la primavera de 2021, incluidas las pruebas ACCESS para estudiantes con diversidad lingüística que tienen que tomar pruebas dobles cada año.
