NJSLA should be canceled. State testing should not define whether or not we are learning anything in the classroom. I think I can speak for all students when I say we are trying to survive a pandemic, and school has been extremely overwhelming since the beginning of everything. We as students are stressed with so many different things going on in our lives, and a state test will most likely be another add-on to our problems. During a horrible time, giving this state test shows that our mental well-being must not matter. If our mental well-being matters, the state should re-think giving this test to us. If this test is given to see if we have learned anything this school year, please look at students' grades to determine so. NJ canceled the test during the 2019-2020 school year because of COVID-19; cancel it again. The virus has not gone away; some students have not been in the classroom since March 2020. Governor Murphy, show students our mental well-being matters and cancel the NJSLA. I say all of this with the utmost respect.
