A drone video recently captured a terrifying moment in New Mexico: sheriff’s deputies disarmed a group of young children — one as young as five years old — who were handling a loaded firearm.

Thankfully, no one was hurt.

But the footage is a clear warning: New Mexico’s crime crisis is growing more urgent, and the need for action is immediate.

Prosecutors, law enforcement leaders, and Republican lawmakers have called on Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to convene a special legislative session to tackle the state’s rising crime and address key public safety challenges.
