Get High Risk CT Vaccinated

Get High Risk CT Vaccinated
The Issue
Governor Lamont has issued CT vaccine roll guidelines out based only on age categories and K-12 teachers and has not followed the CDC recommendations to prioritize people ages 16-64 at increased risk due to underlying medical conditions. In response to the CT plan, the White House stands by the federal guidelines to prioritize essential frontline workers and those with pre-existing medical conditions.
We are asking Governor Lamont and the Connecticut State Legislature to reconsider the vaccine roll out plan and immediately prioritize the needs of people with underlying medical conditions as defined by the CDC and The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).
The CDC defines people aged 16—64 years with these underlying medical conditions at increased the risk of serious, life-threatening complications from the COVID-19 virus:
Cancer
Chronic kidney disease
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
Down Syndrome
Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies
Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from solid organ transplant
Obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 30 kg/m2 or higher but < 40 kg/m2)
Severe Obesity (BMI ≥ 40 kg/m2)
Pregnancy
Sickle cell disease
Smoking
Type 2 diabetes mellitus
The CDC defines states that people with these conditions may be at increased risk of life threatening complications if they get the COVID-19 virus:
Asthma (moderate-to-severe)
Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain)
Cystic fibrosis
Hypertension or high blood pressure
Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, or use of other immune weakening medicines
Neurologic conditions, such as dementia
Liver disease
Overweight (BMI > 25 kg/m2, but < 30 kg/m2)
Pulmonary fibrosis (having damaged or scarred lung tissues)
Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
Type 1 diabetes mellitus
Please sign this petition and support families of medically compromised CT residents as they try to keep their medically compromised family members as healthy and safe as possible.
