168 years for one burglary
The Issue
In the state of Colorado, aggravated robbery carries 4-12 years in prison. Michael Hadnot is a 31-year-old human being that has 168 years for a burglary. It was only through malicious prosecution, and the corrupt practices of the D.A. such as stacking charges and adding multiple sentence enhancers, that Hadnot was able to get this kind of time in a burglary where NO ONE WAS PHYSICALLY HURT AND LESS THEN 500 DOLLARS WAS TAKEN.
However it's not too late for justice.
Michael is the son of 2 loving parents, the brother of 4 sisters, the father of a 5-year-old boy, and the friend of the men, women, children, and others that are asking for a sentence reduction for Michael. The people had agreed long ago that aggravated robbery and 1st degree burglary both class 3 felonies should come with the consequence of 4-12 years if ever violated. Giving someone 168 years for a non-violent burglary shocks the conscious of the people, and compromises the integrity of the criminal justice system. We are asking that Michael Hadnot's sentence be changed from 168 years to a 4-12 year sentence.
Since being incarcerated, Michael has voluntarily participated in cognitive rehabilitative classes such as: customer service, whytry, victim impact and awareness, moral reconation therapy, 7 habits, and breaking down prison politics. All which has led to his rehabilitation. He is now housed in the i-unit where to maintain eligibility, you must remain program compliant and report free. Michael also works with a group called 'pathway to freedom' that has been working towards prison reform, sentence reform, teaches rehabilitative classes, is working toward starting a diversion program for juveniles, and has a 'we care initiative' that donates to good causes.
In closing we must do what it takes to reduce this unjust sentence put upon another fellow human being.
