This petition is to free inmate Michael Nieto #K-29636. He is presently in CTF SOLEDAD, which is amid a covid-19 outbreak.
Mr.Nieto is a youth offender and had been incarcerated since he was 19, when he murdered Mr.Randall Meier,in 1994.
Mr. Nieto has graduated over 30 self-help groups, which he is now the facilitator ,and teaches the curriculum to other inmates.He has been published in selfhelp books, had art published also, works in charity,and in the addiction field.
He has been certified as a collision repair specialist. Achieved his G.E.D,and college courses.
He has not had a disciplinary infraction in 10 years.
He has been accepted in transitional housing, has job employment, and has served 26 years.
Most importantly he has preexisting conditions, hypertension, he suffers from COMPLEX PTSD, and has been quarantined, 2 times prior to covid, showing he is high risk to contract the virus.
SB 261, applies to him, and we are requesting that your office release Mr. NIETO , due to exemplary behavior, his work in self help, addiction, and his leadership in the pathway out of gang life. CTF SOLEDAD where he is housed has over 890 cases and 7 deaths, it is number 1 in all the state in corona virus cases. There is NO VENTILATION, NO WAY TO BE 6 FT,SOCIALLY DISTANT.
