The City of Coral Gables is moving forward with an ordinance to ban plastic bags. No city has done this yet out of fear for the 'Florida Preemption Law' over plastic bags. Coral Gables is showing great leadership on this issue and isn't backing down. It's time that other cities move forward and ban plastic bags! This decision will pave the way for other communities in this struggle to protect our waters and marine life from plastic pollution. The ordinance requires two public hearings. The first is March 14th. More information will be posted the day before.
