We refuse to accept that the achievement gap in education is insurmountable and that zip code equals destiny.  Charter schools have exposed that lie.  In New York City, charter schools deliver high-quality free public education to neighborhoods that need it the most. And yet, the number of charters that are allowed to open in New York City is capped.  

With achievement results that far surpass most district schools, especially for students of color, and with more than 44,000 students on charter school waitlists, we ask the Governor and the NYS Legislature to eliminate the arbitrary cap on the number of charter schools that are allowed to open in NYC.
