Reopen Healthcare Training Programs across Georgia

The Issue

CNA programs in Georgia are unable to fully operate because of Governor Kemp’s Executive Order issued on March 20, 2020. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training programs have been unable to train and certify CNA students since March 2020. Governor Kemp’s Executive Order does approve a temporary online eight-hour nursing aide training program. There are many CNA students who are enrolled in private Nursing Assistant Training Programs across the state and have not been able to complete the program nor take the CNA certification exam. Due to the 6ft. social distancing guidelines, healthcare programs are not able to provide training. Healthcare professionals, are not able to social distanced while taking care of patients; however, we can practice safely using appropriate Personal protective equipment and following CDC guidelines. Healthcare training students have been affected by the social distancing guidelines. This has impacted their livelihood in preventing them from becoming employed during this crisis. We are asking for an  exception or a removal of the 6ft. social distancing guidelines for our programs, so that we can continue to train CNA’s during this healthcare crisis in our private Nurse Aide Training Programs. GA Association of Nursing Assistant Training Programs requests that private programs be opened so that they can continue to provide quality training for CNAs during this public health crisis.
