Why this petition matters

Started by Jessica Barker

Government will only allow a marriage in a hospital/hospice and not a "wedding in a venue". Even if it was no longer than one hour with no more than 6 in attendance.

We are fighting for the human right to a wedding.

The biggest kick to this whole campaign is these next 2 points......

1. Why publish the possibility of an exemption to weddings if this is not the case?  The government  have changed the small print since our campaign started to include the words "Deathbed" We are not asking for a reception, we are not asking for more than 6 guests, THIS WEDDING IS SAFER THAN GOING TO TESCO, OR ALLOWING THE CHILDREN TO GO TO SCHOOL???  They should have said an exemption would only include some certain marriages (not weddings).  A wedding is certainly not allowed yet!

2. Funerals make a total mockery of the government's argument!  30 guests even with COVID SYMPTOMS are allowed to attend a funeral and staff are ON TOP so you could effectively have 50 people in a room (all with covid) for a funeral and this is legal?

How is a funeral priority over this situation and celebrating the love of a family in a wonderful setting, leaving lasting memories for everyone?
