Something needs to be done about the country we live in, more importantly something needs to be done about the people running the country we live in. Let’s start with the pay increase of $200,000 the Governor General just received. The previous Governor General was receiving $500,000 a year or $10,000 roughly a week.The new Governor General is now on $700,000 a year and taking home roughly 13,500 a week. In the 2019-2020 financial year they had,$24 million to play with and property and assets worth an additional $154 million,made up of property Government House and Admiralty House which also included

Infrastructure, plants and equipment and a staggering $1.85 million worth of medals., and that was in 2019-2020. So I can only imagine what’s that’s worth now, 4 years later . Now I don’t know about you, but I personally think this is just criminal, when most average Aussies are bleeding just trying to survive week to week paying for basic needs eg : House repayments, Rent, Food, Gas and Power with many to scared to turn the heater on and some having to go without food. Our homeless numbers are out of control. 

The 2021 Census had figures  representing 122,494 homeless people sleeping on the streets on any given night in Australia. Imagine  3 years on this figure can only be higher. How many people even know the role of a Governor General ? I didn’t until I googled  it, yet we seem happy enough to pay her. Our Prime Minister as of August 27 2023, was taking home $586,950, made up of a base salary of all members of parliament, $225,750 plus 160% additional salary for being Prime Minister. Dan Andrews walked away with a $300,00 yearly pension, after a nine year stint, leaving Victorian’s with a massive $135 billion debt. The figures above should be enough to make all Australians angry, but they should also be enough to make all Australians stand up collectively and say enough is enough. I personally am asking the Australian Government to take pay decreases as they are the very people that got us in this mess to start with.
