Gender equality is not a 'women's concern' but the responsibility of all individuals and of the society as whole and requires the active contribution and input from both women and men. Basic access to education, health, equality of economic opportunity, and political empowerment are the measures of gender equality. There are many alarming issues regarding gender discrimination still prevail today. Therefore, total gender equality must be made a global priority as a fundamental step in both human development and economic progress.

It is a well known fact that men cannot survive without women and women cannot survive without a men. Each gender greatly impacts the other's lives. But many people fails to realize this. Why is gender equality such a huge issue? The problem is that people, especially men, cannot accept the fact that both genders can be equal. 

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
