Nine in 10 employees are now asking to work from home as the price of fuel rockets, research has revealed.

A survey of 3,000 workers found the cost of living crisis had forced the majority to try and persuade their managers to allow them to work remotely to save money on vehicle fuel.

The Chancellor’s cut in fuel duty in the Spring Statement last month had failed to bring down costs and if the Government wanted to encourage people back to the office, it would need to do more.

Rise in fuel prices is a bigger blow for employees in North England, Wales,  Scotland, and Northern Ireland than for those in London, where there were better public transport options.

If the Government wants to encourage people back to the office and open up city centres, it needs to look at cutting VAT on petrol and diesel. Until then, strict measures for 'Work from Home if you can' should be imposed by the Government. This is good for the Environment too!
