The statue of Liberty was a gift from france to celebrate free slaves. The Original design was a black female. (you can actually find it at museums in new york). When the Artist created the statue it was supposed to represent the End of Slavery.

On the original design there were chains on the hands and feet. In fact the current statue of liberty still has chains, but on her feet. The artist insisted in keeping the chains because overall it was their artwork. When the statue got brought to America the amerikkkans wanted to erase and hide anything that was connected to slavery. So they white washed her like every other thing they teach in schools, holiday celebrations, etc. Hence why some of y’all never knew about this.

I wanted to bring this to light bc I am so proud of the black lives matter movement and how We want to make a change. Yes, Passing laws to keep black people is more important but I do think that some things need to change. Like Bringing back the Original statue of liberty, Removing racist slave owners from money, coins and replacing them with real role models. (like Harriet, MLK, etc), Removing statues of racist, Teaching about true American/ Black history in schools that they tried to hide, and so much more. 

I don’t really know how to work these petitions but hopefully we can make a change. Black lives what ? Matter :)
