Abolish ban on inter-island rental vehicle transport

Abolish ban on inter-island rental vehicle transport

The Issue

We, the undersigned, believe enforcement of Virgin Islands Code: Title 20: Section 422(h) and Section 422(i) will be detrimental to the vital tourism economy of St. John and the entire Virgin Islands by stifling competition and unnecessarily adding complication and confusion for some visitors. In addition, we question the authority by which the Virgin Islands government is interfering with inter-island commerce, and whether the limited St. John inventory of rental vehicles is sufficient to meet demand. We urge a long-term suspension of its enforcement and utlimate abolishment of the ban.
