Continued Peaceful Resolution in the Conflict in Mindanao #isignforpeace
The Issue
Is the call for an All-out war a reasonable respond to the peoples’ historic Struggle for justice and peace in the southern Philippines?
Once again, some quarters of the Philippine Society are aggressively pursuing the path of war rather than the path of peace.
The call is transpired thereafter the tragic Mamasapano incident that resulted to the death of Forty four (44) Special Action Force-SAF of the Philippine National Police, Eighteen (18) Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces-BIAF and significant number of casualties and internally displaced persons.
It is in this regard that we, the concerned individuals, organizations and institutions, spearheaded by the Autonomous Regional Government, raise our voices.
THE VALUE OF LIFE.
It is beyond question the primordial importance of life. Muslims and Christians alike do believe the value of life.
War means the loss of life. Thus, we are convinced that the launching of an all-our war is contrary to the beliefs and aspirations of the peoples in Southern Philippines.
Is it not our duty and obligation, especially the State, to preserve life at all cost regardless of our ideological, political and religious beliefs?
NO OTHER OPTION BUT PEACE.
The Peoples have already realized that the logical result of the Peace Process shall herald an era of peace and prosperity in the region. More so, we have been a believers to the dictum that “there no victors in war, only losers”. Though, we have been constantly challenge by the setbacks of the peace overtures being pursued by both by the Philippine Government and the Moro Fronts, we remain optimistic that peace eventually reign in the region. Thus, we commit to the peace process if given the chance.
Is it not that war contrary the sentiments and aspirations of our people for truth, justice and peace?
Finally, we affix our signature as our contribution in finding the moral courage, resolve and fortitude to liberate ourselves from our present predicament.
