The right to enjoy the safety of the motorway for motorbikes over 149cc.

The right to enjoy the safety of the motorway for motorbikes over 149cc.

The Issue

In a country where life has lost value, it is important we follow rules that protect life and offer an unbiased, fair rule for all, not just a particular group or demographic.

The right to travel and travel safely is a human right exercised by most if not all countries in principal, unfortunately many shamefully fall short in practice. In this case Pakistan is also wavering in this responsibility to its people.

The specific issue relates to the use of the motorways, currently motorcycles are banned from motorways, a reason given is that it is not safe, this argument is not just ridiculous but untrue as more deaths on motorcycles occur on the alternative GT road as it is a harsher road to travel on and is the only option as the motorway is not offered to motorcyclists. Not offering the motorway is a indirect cause of some of the deaths on motorcycles which most know could be avoided if motorways were accessible to bikers.

Of course, it is understandable that a miminum engine requirement is essential to keep the integrity of the motorway, this I believe should be any motorbike above 149cc as these bikes will be able to safely travel within the upper speed limit.

If a car user abuses the motorway rules he is fined, yet it is argued that a few motorbikes abused the rules and instead of punishing the wrong doers all bikers were and still are being punished, this cannot be seen as fair or just and needs desperate rectification.

Our petition demands the government listens to the people who it is supposed to represent and overturn a most biased and unfair ruling that sits on the motorway as a mark against its true and fair purpose.
