Protection of Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary
Protection of Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary
The Issue
Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary situated in Chengalpattu district, Tamilnadu has been a nesting place for lots of birds. It has been a beautiful tourist attraction years ago. Now it has lost its beauty because of lack of maintenance by the respective authorities. Now 40% of the sanctuary has been allowed for expansion of Sun pharma which is situated 4 kms away from the Bird lake. This might shrink the vast area of the sanctuary as well as it will affect the migrant birds. Instead, it can be renovated and open it to tourists as a major attraction. Because of lack of cleanliness, visitors are avoiding the place due to lack of hygiene. I hope this will help the upcoming generation to know variety of bird species and also help the bird species not to lose their home.
