Field hockey is a sport, which is played in India with a lot of pride and Indian hockey team had won 8 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals at Olympics. The achievement is much bigger than any other hockey-playing country has achieved since it was introduced at the Olympics in 1908.

India also won world cup gold in 1975, at Kuala Lumpur. Indian hockey team also won the junior world cup 2 times ( 2001 and 2016 ). All of these achievements are much bigger than any other sports has produced for India and we being Indian takes lot of pride, while playing and watching the game of hockey. 

Leaving cricket aside ( which is not even an Olympic sport), Hockey by large is the game where we are able to match speed, stamina and skill levels of European these days. With the introduction of astroturf in 1976, Indian hockey took a backstage for almost 20+ years. However, Indian hockey is getting back on track by winning 2 silver medals at Champions trophy in 2016 and 2018. Indian Hockey team also won a Bronze medal at hockey world league 2 times in 2014-15 and then again in 2016-17. Before this the last medal won by India at any of the FIH events was a bronze medal in 1982 Champions trophy.

In addition to this, we are ranked no 4 teams in the world rankings as per FIH. With lot of golden history and the current form of Indian hockey, we are requesting the Indian government to declare Hockey as National Game of India.
