National service personnel’s across Ghana are facing financial difficulties and need an increment on the allawa.

This is due to relocation and distance to work places. Even though we are in the third month without receiving any allowance since this year’s (2020) service begun, we humbly demand for an increment on the gh559 we are to be paid. This is because there’s been a persistent rise in prices of general goods especially during this Covid 19 period hence making our basic needs difficult to come by. Also many of us have relocated to places we where posted to to do the service which incurred a lot of cost and sacrifice amongst other risks. 

On the average, we spend about gh25-30 Daily to make it to work and back and calculating this for 30 days(a month), the gh559 wouldn’t even cover that expense (transport/feeding cost) alone, not to mention other things like bills, rent and so on. For about 2 months now and counting, national service personnel’s across Ghana have been left with no other option than to be borrowing to cater for their expenses which is very bad (I’m currently experiencing it) for us as youths.

We therefore demand that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, the current President of Ghana and his government hear the plea of the nation’s youth in service and increase the allawa as soon as possible to ease/reducethe stress we are facing whiles giving our service to the nation.
