FASHION MUST BE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

Sign my petition to raise awareness with retailers about the barriers facing disabled consumers when shopping on the high street- as featured in Grazia magazine.

Research by the charity Scope has revealed that three in five disabled people have encountered problems with access on the high street. This includes everything from no step-free access or accessible changing rooms, to a lack of braille signage or hearing loops.

Although The Equality Act was introduced a decade ago to clarify legislation against disability discrimination and enforce ‘reasonable adjustments’ that enable disabled individuals to access buildings, many shops are resistant or unaware of such laws.

Retailers who overlook these legal obligations are missing out on the largest untapped consumer group- the UK’s 13.9 million disabled people have a collective spending power of £249bn.
