I am a wheelchair user and I need a full hoist at all times and 24hr care. I recently posted something on facebook to bring some attention to.
It annoys me so much that hotels will say that they are wheelchair accessible, fair enough about having access to the building and been able to move around a room and have lowered facilities in the room. But what about access to a hoist? Its all good and well going into the building and moving around a room, but how do i get myself into bed. I think hotels that say they are wheelchair accessible should at least invest in a hoist. Just one portable hoist that people like me can use. I have done my research this morning getting in touch with the HSE to see if there was access to a hoist to avail of for a hotel and they had said it was a request they had never heard of before, bare in mind this was something i was told by a hotel to get information from. OUTRAGEOUS. I cannot carry around a hoist that weighs a ton for an overnight in a hotel. I think in my opinion hotels should invest in at least one hoist to assist people with disabilites and keep it stress free.
