Never has there been a more poignant time for the laws on dog theft to be reviewed and tougher sanctions imposed.  Dog theft during lockdown is up and recently 83 stolen were found at West Meadows Travellers' site in Ipswich.  As I write this, 48 are still waiting be reunited with their owners a month on.

Currently dog thieves can be punished at the same level as someone who steals a mobile phone! I know personally, my dog is incomparably more than say my laptop. I can't imagine the mental anguish. My dog is my family, not an object!

Surely with these current punishments we are not setting a high enough deterrent, proven by the increase in dog theft.

I'm aware there are campaigns in relation to this already, but the way I see the more responses, the more it can't just be ignored. The government responses are unsatisfactory!
