Government-Funded Job Experience Programs for UK Graduates: Secure Our Future!

The Issue

Empower Our Graduates: Fund Practical Job Experience Programs

We urgently call on the UK government to create and fund programs that provide practical job experience for all university graduates. The current job market demands experience that fresh graduates often lack, leaving many talented young people unable to secure meaningful employment. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical job skills, addressing the high unemployment rate among young graduates and strengthening our national workforce.

Right now, it’s a vicious cycle: big companies want experienced specialists, and programs aimed at student employment (like grad crack) are overcrowded, with only one out of 100 graduates securing a job. Instead of paying these graduates unemployment benefits, the government should provide them with jobs for the duration of their practical training and pay them benefits for their work, while companies cover the rest of the salary through tax incentives. Let’s spend less money on wars and invest more in our youth!

Why This Matters:

Think of the countless graduates who leave university full of hope and ambition, only to be met with rejection after rejection. Many graduates, including my own son who has a Computer Science degree, face immense challenges in securing employment due to a lack of experience. The COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing global uncertainties have only made this issue worse. A government-funded job experience program would provide essential support to these young individuals, helping them transition smoothly from education to employment. This isn’t just about jobs; it’s about hope, dignity, and the promise of a brighter future.

Invest in Our Future:

Investing in our young graduates is investing in the future of our country. By providing practical experience opportunities, we can ensure that our graduates are well-equipped to contribute effectively to our economy and society. It’s not just about helping individual graduates; it’s about building a brighter, more stable future for England. Our young, educated people are the backbone of our nation’s stability and prosperity. It is better to fund job placements than to pay out in unemployment benefits. The government spends so much on wars that take our youth away; let’s redirect some of those funds to secure their futures at home.

Call to Action:

If you have students or high school seniors in your family, or if you care about where our taxes go, please sign the petition. Join us in demanding that the UK government take immediate action to support our graduates. Together, we can make a difference for our young professionals and our country’s future. Help us ensure that every young graduate has the chance to gain the experience they need to succeed and contribute to a stronger, more resilient England.
